After my back injury in 1998 I was prescribed OxyContin and suffered from bad side effects. It was hell coming off it. I was prescribed a great pain medication, but it was very expensive and the insurance wanted me off it. When I moved and had to find another pain doctor he didn’t believe me that I suffered the side effects so he withheld the one I could tolerate and I had to take OxyContin again and prove that I couldn’t nor shouldn’t be taking it. I had to suffer coming off it again! Of course he just could have read my previous doctor’s notes!

I’m absolutely pissed that the Sackler family is not in prison for what they did to hundreds of thousands of people who many are dead. They knew how bad it was as did the corrupt FDA! There are lots more people who should be in prison! Good thing I don’t rule the world.

Our situations are nearly 180 degrees out of phase. But the medical establishment inflicts a One-Size-Fits-All solution. It is probably more of a One-Size-Fits-None Solution. Can anyone tell me how "mindfulness" is supposed to help one with chronic pain? The whole point of "mindfulness" is to concentrate on what you are feeling. Like focusing on the pain is going to somehow make us less aware of it. Who are these sadistic morons? I have a proposal for them. Give me a baseball bat and twenty swings. Then let's see how much "mindfulness" helps them with the resulting agony I will put them in. I bet they will be demanding some opioids by the handful. Then I can get the satisfaction of telling them to just pretend it doesn't hurt. Just sayin'.

Yep…I got sent to a behavioral therapist who wanted me to focus on my pain so it would go away. I never thought that would work since the pain was so insidious I could never forget that it was there. I agree. Let those who think that way experience the pain we are dealing with and see how helpful their suggestions are.
