Can anyone tell me how "mindfulness" is supposed to help one with chronic pain? The whole point of "mindfulness" is to concentrate on what you are feeling. Like focusing on the pain is going to somehow make us less aware of it. Who are these sadistic morons? I have a proposal for them. Give me a baseball bat and twenty swings. Then let's see how much "mindfulness" helps them with the resulting agony I will put them in. I bet they will be demanding some opioids by the handful. Then I can get the satisfaction of telling them to just pretend it doesn't hurt. Just sayin'.
Yep…I got sent to a behavioral therapist who wanted me to focus on my pain so it would go away. I never thought that would work since the pain was so insidious I could never forget that it was there. I agree. Let those who think that way experience the pain we are dealing with and see how helpful their suggestions are.
