Wow! Amazing post - thank you Jennifer. It is excellent that you have the measurement means to let you know that you are making positive changes. I recently started following the energy balance guidelines that the late Dr. Ray Peat developed. Dr. Mercola has been writing about his work and interviewing people about it. I have been watching the Energy Balance Podcast with Jay Feldman. Some of the things that they suggest, like fruit juices, fruit and a LOT of carbs, seem to go against the prevailing wisdom. Anyway, after 2 weeks following the principles, my morning blood sugar readings have dropped from around 100 to 88 - all while I eat for energy reasons. I have a lot more energy and I have dropped close to 2 pounds ( no other changes ) , which seems counterintuitive to me. Finally, Dr. Mercola, who wrote the book "Fat For Fuel", has stated that he was wrong - he has incorporated more carbs, keeping fat macros below 30%, and has seen a fasting blood sugar drop of over 10 points.
