It isn’t just United, I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield/Anthem and they denied a prescription refill of an antibiotic that costs a lot in the US and is literally $100 or less everywhere else last December. They wrote my doctor a very nasty letter, that I was also issued, stating they didn’t deem the drug refill necessary and were denying it. WHAT?! Since when is it the job of the insurance company to make these decisions?! This is literally coming between you and your doctor. People are very likely being denied all kinds of medical benefits their doctors are ordering. I can use my natural path and get it from Canada but what if it was an emergency?! Insane, I will not use these large health care providers once the insurance ins’t covered by my employer.
I worked for a retinal specialist and when we had a patient that needed emergency treatment and the insurance company was denying it he’d get on the phone and ask the person if they didn’t understand why it was an emergency how can they deny it? If they didn’t understand how the eye works…
He’d tell them it’s like a first grader grading college students work.
Don't forget, by law you MUST have health insurance. The Affordable Healthcare Act turned us all into serfs of the Insurance Industry. Does anyone need a reminder of who exactly turned us into subjects instead of citizens? They want us dead, but first they want to rule over us while we "eat zee bugs" and live in mud huts.
Let's hope that IF he gets confirmed, one of the first things RFK does, is turn Ocare on its head.
I'm sure most all of us have had some problem because of them. Insurance and type of coverage should be up to us, not some government agency/regulation. I would prefer a much simpler program... like it was when I was a kid. I suspect, as with most things, if the government wasn't involved, things would be much cheaper.
Doctors who have the courage to advocate for their patients against the heath insurance conglomerate will eventually be forced out of all adequate insurance reimbursement. My advice to young docs with such integrity? Work and save hard so you can go cash only or seek another job in healthcare.
So technically, Dr.'s ARE EMPLOYEES of the insurance company, and 'bean counters' manage health care...
-got it.
In the medical industrial complex Doctors whose practices are hospital bought are employees. It all started with an option called "HMO"

I think it’s doing medicine without a license.
The paradox is that we have enormously expensive healthcare in the United States and it is not only insurance companies that are getting wealthy.
