Dr. Brown this is a follow up to your essay on lack of access to health care. Private equity firms that own hospitals are doing everything in their power to crush nurses unions and make them low paid gig workers with no benefits and heinous working conditions.

Chris talks about how much traveling nurses get paid and how hospitals use them to crush strikes. I wish they would join the picket line with the nurses, but maybe they see the writing on the wall and want to get as much money as they can before everything goes south.

Yes our health system is being attacked and crushed and soon only the wealthy will be able to afford to see doctors and be treated in hospitals. More death and misery on the way. I wish I knew the answer to stop this!

I 100% agree with this. The owners of healthcare are no longer private, they are these big conglomerates. When healthcare left Mainstreet and went to big glass billion dollar towers, healthcare ended. It is sad.

I was working in a hospital that was run by nuns back in the 80's and it had a family vibe to it with all departments being friendly with each other until the day they sold their administrative duties and a business type CEO was installed. After that it seemed that every department was on its own and the family vibe went away. I have been involved in health care for 46 years and I can see how much it has changed over the decades. I agree that healthcare went away when hospitals were sold to the hedge funds whose only role is to suck as much money out of them as possible. I feel bad for those who still want to help people, but now see it as drudge work because they are being stretched too far. I definitely saw the difference last time I was in the hospital.
