While organ transplant programs required YOU to be vaccinated, a transplant surgeon was frauding people off the transplant list.

This has sent some ripples through the organ transplant community. Remember the draconian requirements to get a transplant in 2021-2024? You had to be vaccinated with every covid shot available or you were not listed for transplant. Many people died as a result of this. The light was shed on the organ donation process, and many people chose to remove their name from the organ donation program due to the ridiculous covid vaccine for transplant requirements.
Apparently, covid vaccines were not the only limiting factor to people getting a liver or kidney transplant. The transplant program at this Houston hospital was abruptly shut down earlier last week. It has come out over the last few days that the surgeon who performed liver and kidney transplants was FALSIFYING DATA when listing people for transplant. Surgeons can set a criteria needed for a transplant. Such as, if you are a 6’5” 300 pound male, you need a bigger liver. A liver from a 22 year old female who weighs 120 pounds is not gonna work. And same for the reverse. You aren’t going to throw a liver from a 6’5” 300 pound male into a 5’2” 120 pound woman. The organ is too large or too small to be compatible. So there are reasonable parameters to put in for the kind of organ the team is looking for.
What THIS surgeon was doing was setting parameters so unrealistically high that NONE of his patients were going to get a new liver or kidney. One patient had criteria of “needs a 300 pound toddler liver”. WHAT?! That does not exist. You will never find that. That patient will die on the transplant list waiting for the call that they found a new liver for them.
We know the surgeon did this, so the question now is WHY. Why would a transplant surgeon, who is supposed to be “facilitating the gift of life” to someone, making sure his patients do not get a transplant and they die? How long has he ran the transplant program, how many patients died while waiting for a liver/kidney? How many actually GOT a transplant? Was there something discriminatory that he held personal bias towards when listing them with unrealistic criteria? This dude will never work as an MD again, and is looking at legal charges/jail time for what he has done.
I challenge all of you to look at the bigger picture here. Do ya think that someone’s choice to not get a covid vaccine might lead to medical bias and discrimination? Do you think that someone’s choice to not take a statin or opt out of a flu shot might lead to bias and discrimination? In a profession where we are told to do no harm and put the patient first, several are not doing that, and what if they were up to something horribly bad, like this surgeon out of Houston?
Throw the book at this jerk. He should have a negligent homicide charge for every patient he listed with some dumb unattainable organ criteria.
I think we are going to see hundreds of stories of doctors and nurses acting with malice toward the unwashed unvaccinated, even now because they are angry that the unwashed were able to escape the vax hell they submitted themselves to.
I have no doubt, based on personal experience, not getting your Covid shot was causing bias and poorer treatment. Not only did they ask if you got the shot, if you answered honestly no they followed up with why not and documented that answer as well. No different than adopting DEI and treating patients differently based on race. At this point a lot of the healthcare system is doing a lot more harm than good and care itself is no longer the goal.
