You are correct. I worked with midazolam back in my ICU days. We used it for procedure sedation. It was a fine fine line between keeping the patient sedated but not too sedated that they lost their respiratory drive. How much “midazolam juice” went into people to intentionally suppress their breathing ability……murder.
