This really is diabolical. How these people can sleep at night is beyond my comprehension. There is a special place in hell for these p/harma employees.
I saw a podcast with an allopathic oncologist who was making this exact point. The new cancer drugs are a fortune, often 5 figures, and they introduce new medications that end up being not only less effective but they have a lot more side effects. They also rig the trials, don’t use proper placebos and only have to show it is just as effective as you mentioned. But oncologists are incentivized to use the latest and greatest. Anyone seeing an oncologist is likely at a bottom point in their life relying on their doctor who is going to get a big kick back if he promotes the new drugs. Not to mention all the drugs you can buy in other countries for less than $100 and here can cost thousands.
100% correct. Oncologists salaries are 60% or greater funded by the chemo drugs they give to their patients. 10-12 years ago when I still worked in a hospital, there was a chemo infusion that was $125,000 for the hospital to purchase it, and the patient paid $250,000 for it. PER INFUSION. That extra $125k the hospital made is what partially pays oncologists. Disgusting. Capitalizing off someone fighting for their life.
Thank you Dr. Funtimes. This provides the missing piece of the puzzle for me regarding the Adderall XR shortage. I had been able to find that the original shortage in the middle of the COVID-19(84) disaster was intentionally caused by the Feds arbitrarily restricting the supply of precursor chemicals to the generic pharmaceutical manufacturers. They admitted it on the USDA web site. (No, I haven't checked to see if that nugget of joy is still posted) I wondered at the time, are they just especially cruel sadists? Depriving us of our Adderall XR during the lock downs? (which I ignored ferociously) I should have figured it was to pave the way for someone's Brother-In-Law to make a fortune repackaging the same old same old and marketing it as New & Improved. Which it isn't. Of course the Feds are STILL suppressing the supply of precursor chemicals to the generic pharmaceutical manufacturers and exacerbating the problem by cutting in the Dyanavel XR producers. I wonder how many members of Congress and their staff have invested in the manufacturer just in time to make millions? Funny how those are the only people who are exempted from the Insider Trading Laws. I digress.
My stake in all this? Adderall XR changed my life. Suddenly, close to age 60, I had an attention span that could be measured in minutes instead of seconds. It is AMAZING how much one can get done in a day if one is not distracted by every little thing that crosses one's path. Now, thanks to the self serving cruel meddling of the Feds, I have discovered the joys of the non-XR version. (Don't get me wrong, it is AWESOME that it is available!) I am willing to put up with the drudgery of taking a half pill 2 or 3 times a day instead of one pill in the morning. And it costs me less per month. I owe Dr. Funtimes a big Thank You for making this positive difference in my life!
To close, (other than profit) why did the Feds artificially restrict the supply of Adderall XR? I'm certain ratcheting up all of us ADHD cases could be entertaining, but it isn't safe for anyone. Because they want us dead!
Your Crimsonness... When the first artificial shortage occurred I too was accused of suspicious activity when I called every pharmacy (over 150 of them) within 75 miles of my house. Actually the accusation was "drug seeking behavior". Of course, that is EXACTLY what it was. I was seeking the medicine prescribed when no pharmacy had it. When I pointed this out to my accuser and asked if they really wanted to deny me prescribed medical care, they backed off. Probably because they figured my next move would be calling all the attorneys within a 75 mile radius. Fight like your life depends on it. Because it does.
My doctor tried to get me to take Entresto at $829 a month, supposedly to replace Furosemide (which I had quit taking several years ago). Furosemide is less than $4 a month. Obvioiusly the guy has an agenda, and my best interests aren't on it.
You been snoopin' in my medicine cabinet? (Nah, that's just a coinkydink you picked the anxiety med!)
BTW, what will happen to prices of RX when Albertsons & Krogers lobby/buy their privilege to merge?
Albertsons created GoodRx. GoodRx draws Rx fills to Safeway pharma (Safeway is an Albertsons chain) by offering "no insurance coupon savings" on drugs.
Anyone not yet in awe of our healthcare system NEEDS to see this South Park clip:
(4min musical number, from the movie South Park: The End Of Obesity)
Didn’t you see me sneak in your bathroom window and rummage through your med cabinet?? 😂
We already have pharmacies here in Kansas City not willing to take GoodRX for controlled substances of any kind. Adderall to Ambien, they aren’t willing to use GoodRX at all. I fear there are going to be more. And as more pharmacy chains merge, they will find a way to lay it to the people who use this option!!
Ivermectin story: When during the height of the initial Covid scare, our complicit doctor/Big Pharma colleagues suppressed IVM (Biden's "horse paste"), a Korean company announced a plan to ramp up production. I tried to contact their US office to learn more - never got a reply.
BTW Japan got absolutely hammered by the jabs.
As Covid and the jabs rolled along successfully and profitably (Pfizer $60B in year 1) the local prices here for 2 3Mg pills increased from $18-$100 and today are around $100 retail.
I keep a stash of pills for convenience, but if I need to resupply I will call my friendly Vet.
10 Mg/cc - perfect for dosing.
Horse owners demand only the highest purity for their precious steeds.
It's also cheaper than chemo if of you get certain cancers, but that's another off label use so don't dare look at the peer reviewed research on this😂.
I remember seeing the 50 mL bottle with the black, red and yellow front label saying Durvet Ivermectin - Injection for cattle and swine - 1% sterile solution - Approved by the FDA sitting in front of either Dr. Paul Marik or Dr Pierre Kory or both as they testified before congress.
I never saw the bottle referenced or acknowledged as it could not be. Yet the bottle "spoke".
I was happy to be able to purchase the Durvet brand amber colored "paste" and to be able to overnight it to friends where it was not available.
This really is diabolical. How these people can sleep at night is beyond my comprehension. There is a special place in hell for these p/harma employees.
The roadmap was bought in our US Congress through lobbying. Those profiting from this model should all sit in Judgement. IMHO.
Vast sums made, vast consequences!

Hi DT... Sorry you suffered.
See my note above. What a racket!!
My anxiety was exacerbated by pharmacists telling me that my Price Shopping was equivalent to suspicious activity concerning a controlled substance.
My doc of 30 years aligned in the Era of COVID with a hospital chain who won't approve a written RX. (Wtf?!)
They require (!) a fax to a specific pharmacy.
Ultimately, I got all my scripts in paper despite the autocracy, but not before pissing off the Office Weenies (I'm still in their DogHouse).
Cheers.

100%. He either gets paid by them to pharma speak for them, or there is some sort of quote the office is trying to meet. Sickening.

100%! The 10mg/cc is the purest form you will find! It is what I “allegedly” used 😉

From a business standpoint, this is a brilliant strategy.
Obviously, the business of healthcare has nothing to do with either health or care.
Remind me: Why do we have a government FDA?
