Part 2: why are the Megachurches being targeted by this Israel geofencing social media campaign?
If you ever doubted that we are in a battle for our spiritual lives, here is part 2 that we discussed yesterday. Why are they targeting these huge megachurches out in the west?
I utilized Grok to help with this one, as information online is sparse.
The $4.1 million Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) geofencing campaign, managed by Show Faith by Works, LLC and disclosed in September 2025 FARA filings, targets evangelical megachurches in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado to promote pro-Israel and anti-Palestinian narratives. Using location-based ads and a mobile “October 7th Experience” exhibit, the campaign leverages megachurches’ unique scale, influence, and alignment with Israel’s public diplomacy goals. Below are the key reasons for this focus, as inferred from DOJ filings, media coverage (e.g., The Times of Israel, Responsible Statecraft), and contextual analysis.
1. Massive Scale and Reach:
- Large Congregations: Megachurches, defined as congregations with 2,000+ weekly attendees (e.g., Saddleback Church, CA; Gateway Church, AZ), draw 5,000–20,000 people per service, offering a concentrated audience for geofencing. This technology tags smartphones within virtual perimeters, enabling sustained ad targeting with high efficiency.
- Youth Appeal: Megachurches attract younger evangelicals (18–34), a demographic where Israel’s support is declining (e.g., Pew Research 2024: only 25% of young evangelicals strongly back Israel vs. 67% of older ones). Their modern worship style aligns with digital campaigns on TikTok, Instagram, and X.
2. Political and Ideological Alignment:
- Pro-Israel Theology: Evangelicals, especially in megachurches, often embrace dispensationalism, linking Israel to biblical prophecy. Groups like Christians United for Israel (CUFI, 10 million+ members) are rooted in megachurch networks, making them reliable allies for Israel’s “hasbara” (public diplomacy) efforts.
- Conservative Influence: Megachurch pastors (e.g., Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills) wield significant sway within the Republican Party, particularly in swing states like Arizona. Their congregations are politically active, amplifying the campaign’s impact on U.S. discourse.
3. Logistical and Cultural Fit:
- Event Infrastructure: Megachurches have expansive campuses with parking lots ideal for hosting the “October 7th Experience” exhibit, a mobile installation highlighting the 2023 Hamas attack. These venues can accommodate thousands, unlike smaller churches.
- Media Savviness: Megachurches often broadcast services to millions via live streams and maintain robust social media teams, facilitating integration with the campaign’s digital ads and messaging. This infrastructure supports rapid dissemination of pro-Israel content.
4. Strategic Precedent:
- Historical Focus: Israel’s MFA has long prioritized evangelicals, who provide outsized U.S. support (e.g., 80% of white evangelicals backed Trump in 2020, many citing Israel policy). Campaigns like CUFI summits or MFA-funded pastor trips ($86,000 via Israel365) target megachurch networks.
- Countering Opinion Shifts: With U.S. support for Israel dropping (53% negative views per 2025 polls, especially among youth), megachurches offer a receptive audience to reinforce pro-Israel sentiment and counter antisemitism narratives.
So my question is this: if you are attending either in person or online at one of these megachurches, are you giving consent for your phone to be geofenced and targeted by a foreign government for advertising and political sway??
This is very concerning.
Having lived out west for over 50 years and having attended more than one mega church, I can fully understand why an ad blitz would target mega churches in the west.
First, money (Isn't it always). Mega churches are targeted for their concentration of money in a wealthy area.
Second, ease. Mega churches are easily geo-fenced because of their size.
Third, space. Mega churches by definition must be in control of extensive space which means there will be space for you.
Fourth, leadership. Mega churches have a plethora of programs led by a myriad of leaders, so getting buy-in might be difficult or simple depending upon your marketeer.
Fifth, demographic (could have been first). Pretty obvious. Mega churches have all you are looking for.
Yes, we are in a spiritual war.
Having said all this, is it safe to go to a mega church?
If they are preaching the Word, yes. Be a Berean.
But, always keep your eyes open for the ravenous wolves hiding among the sheep. Even in a mega church, they are always lurking.
It IS a spiritual battle. Do not think that the ultimate "powers that be" behind this campaign are Jewish. They are not. They are Lucifarian. They are working on fomenting WW3 between Israel and the Muslims. A war in the Middle Eastern War involving Judaism and Islam which would then spread internationally.
Albert Pike - who they commissioned to document their goals - stated their objective as being to “unleash the nihilist and the atheists and provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in its horror will show clearly the effect of absolute atheism, savagery and the most bloody turmoil… until the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity… will receive the pure light through the pure doctrine of Lucifer.”
