That's a great idea. Imagine the Senators walking into the chamber with patches depicting their major contributors over the past 6 years, color-coded by the total amount paid.
Alternatively, they can put that information on those easel stands behind their committee seat.
Having lived in and around Boston since attending graduate business school, the "bubble" that is that town is quite obvious.
Arriving in 1991, and observing for a while, I concluded that Boston and all the "beautiful" people that live there do so in a bubble. A big academia, big pharma, big healthcare, big military industrial complex, big finance bubble. All of these criminal enterprises enable a very cushy lifestyle for those "beautiful" people. It also ensures compliance with and defense of the indefensible.
So. Those numbers for Pocahantas? Unsurprising. A bought-and-paid-for shrew and pharma mouthpiece. A 95% at-least-one-dose of the pharma needles in MA? Screech anything other than what she screeches? Unlikely.
It's why I knew exactly where this operation was headed in Feb/Mar '20...and why I left my job in Dec 2020 and we left New England -- for good -- in Aug '21.
Jennifer, where are the medical societies getting that kind of money!? Seriously cannot be coming from physician fees—-guaranteed they’re coming from Big pHarma, as well. Just another money laundering operation
The AMA, and I’m sure other orgs, sell their member data for marketing purposes to commercial entities (e.g., pharma companies). I believe members can opt out of it.
I grew up in Kansas City, so my views might be a little dark on this subject. I'm sure somewhere there is an honest politician who selflessly does good. They are a mote in the sea of politicians who's only concern is how much they themselves can benefit from holding office. They have only one thing to sell. They sell a business advantage to the unscrupulous who realize it is cheaper buy a politician than it is to actually compete. So the desired advantage is written into law. And the politicians grow richer. Ever hear of ANY politician who left office poorer than when they were elected? Not even fans of Harry Truman can claim that. As I've said before, the US tax code and the supporting regulations are more than 75,000 pages. That's a lot of bribery. Wake up. Oh, and most of them want us dead. But only after we've been fleeced.
Truman's political career was started because the Boss of Kansas City (Jackson County) selected him for local office due to his reputation as someone who could "get along". It is telling that Franklin Roosevelt (A big believer in Machine Politics) chose Harry Truman out of the entire Democratic field to be his successor. A critical look at Truman's record in office leads me to believe Roosevelt would not have been disappointed. The myth here in Independence (Give 'em Hell Harry Land) is that Harry and Bess were destitute after leaving the White House. Like Harry made no money selling votes during his time in Congress. Ha Ha Ha. One has to ignore a lot of facts to swallow that one. But gullibility is not in short supply here. And I'm sure Franklin, Harry and even Bess wanted us dead.
I have a feeling Warnock got his fat package by agreeing to do something the other members refused involvement. Speculation, but, I will be watching nie.
I looked up the 'pharmaceuticals and health products' category, but didn't think to expand my search to the broader categories,
Sad thing is, campaigns are insanely expensive, and getting more so. My friend Sean Smith tried to take a run at the 5th CD with 'grassroots' money and got nowhere against grifter Emmanuel Cleaver, who raised over a million dollars with all the usual suspects. In all the races I campaigned for in 2024 all but one (Joe Nicola for State Senate) were trounced by candidates with piles of money. So it IS possible to win with just a good ground game and a lot of grassroots support, but the odds are massively against it.
It's easy to rail against influence peddling, dark money, PACs. Much harder to actually work to help candidates win without it. LOTS of people said they would help with Sean's campaign when he was toying with the idea of running. But a fraction of them actually wrote a check, showed up to knock doors, or get out mailers or make phone calls. As volunteer coordinator for the Eastern Jack segment of the district I spent at almost as much time trying to recruit as I did actual campaigning. So yeah, big money in politics sucks but so does people not stepping up and helping.
I was recently asked if my visit would be taped. I was OK with it, at first. After thinking about it and how I hear as you get older your put in a different "pile" once you begin to show it. And after an elder friend tore a hip muscle, but bc of her age they refused to even try to fix it (obamma care). She offered cash payment. Still, a refusal. Being a Christain, she prayed about it. Then, a nice surgeon was on duty for rounds. He agreed to do the surgery. Anyway, those death panels we worried about are real. Your "care" is scored.
Re:Warnock, not a bad haul for a preacher. This graft and shadow corruption must stop! I can just about bet you he didn’t go into politics for the good of his fellow man. He will pay a price when the big book is opened.
I won an award from the AMA a long time ago, I am embarrassed to say that. I was a board-certified OTR AND WAS DISGUSTED WITH ALL OF THE INSURANCES SUPPORTED BY OUR BOARDS WHEN WE SPENT MORE TIME FIGURING OUT THE EXACT MINUTES WE COULD SPEND WITH A PATIENT THEN ACTUALLY TREATING THE PATIENT. AND THEN THEY DID PERSON CENTERED PLANNING, WHICH IS JUST LIKE SAFE AND EFFECTIVE. YOU HAD TO DO YOUR DOCUMENTATION IN FRONT OF THE PATIENT, ALONG WITH OTHER RED TAPE WHICH KEEPS YOU FROM TREATING THE PATIENT AND IT'S MORE LIKE CATTLE"BOAT THERAPY. There were a lot of other unethical things nursing home companies wanted me to do that I just refused. I guess the good thing about being debilitated with Covid is that I can't work anymore, nor would I ever work under those conditions. Thank you for making things more transparent for other people to see, and that's how they got away with all of the extra red tape and person centered planning which couldn't be further from the truth❤️
These faces of evil are merely the forward picture of the body of evil which holds them up.
These "officials" should be required to wear their sponsors like NASCAR drivers.
These phony bastions of pulchritude are just like their father who masquerades as an angel of Light.
Pulchritude! Great word.

Actually starting several decades ago you could slap a sponsorship logo on the White House and most institutions in the empire.

My best friend moved to Boston after college 40 years ago.
Covid happened.
He has unfriended me.

I’ve seen Truman’s K.C. described as machine politics in Heinleins biography.
Truman's political career was started because the Boss of Kansas City (Jackson County) selected him for local office due to his reputation as someone who could "get along". So, do you think the ancient a$$hole$ that are being paid off by pharma are jealous of Warnock, because he's getting so much more than they are? 😏🤔🤨
I have a feeling Warnock got his fat package by agreeing to do something the other members refused involvement. Speculation, but, I will be watching nie.
These Senators have a conflict of interest and should not be allowed to vote on the appointment.

Vicious circle of Time-Focus-Job! I ran grassroots and many also fail polls as Write-Ins!
It's pricing those most in line w the people out. Shouldn't cost that much. Need many volunteers too.
Yes, that is the rub. People would rather spend their free time tethered to their screens than get out and get involved.
Stopped hell , they must have to give it back .

Many thanks for alerting me to OpenSecrets.org!
And we wonder why health care is so expensive!
