There is a lot to unpack in this quote: This is what the head of the AFL-CIO thought concerning the election:
“But, we are not prepared for the two most likely outcomes”–Trump losing and refusing to concede, and Trump winning the Electoral College (despite losing the popular vote) by corrupting the voting process in key states. “
The assumption here is that Trump was "corrupting the voting process in key states." And the Time Magazine never questions this narrative. Never asks, how would he corrupt the voting process? The sentence subtext here states that either Trump would lose or cheat.
And examine this sentence carefully, and remove the word Trump and replace it with Biden, imagine the response of anyone who would say those very same things concerning Biden. Well, that sounds an awful lot like what the media, everyone and their brother refers to the "big lie."
THEY can't present ideas and policies just dictate what THEY think we need. They remind me of my sister, who constantly tried to make me into what SHE thought I should be in my life rather than let me make my own mistakes and way. Her idea of life was NOT mine. I just wanted to be left alone. BTW my sister voted for JB!
The question for me...will we continue to allow the Ds/Leftist to dictate whom our leaders will be or will we fight for our rights and freedoms? I will NEVER believe JB honestly won...that he outdid BOTH Obama and Trump...probably the most popular candidates for each side, ever.
How do we stop their cheating? Will our side get involved and work LOCALLY for honesty? Have we learned any lessons?
"What he wanted to know was not how American democracy was dying but how it might be kept alive"
Wouldn't something that would be considered "American democracy dying" be a vast shadow conspiracy occurring behind closed doors used to alter, tamper with, and otherwise steer what one believed to be the correct course of action a democracy would take without the consent of the people?
The irony in the article is how they talked about how "they" saved democracy.
Here is the quote which caused me to pause and comment:
" The scenario the shadow campaigners were desperate to stop was not a Trump victory. It was an election so calamitous that no result could be discerned at all, a failure of the central act of democratic self-governance that has been a hallmark of America since its founding."
The key phrase here is "democratic self-governance." Did anyone in this "shadow effort" even ask the people's permission, to hear what it was WE wanted? This is precisely what is wrong, what we fight against, why we want to be left alone, because they thought they had our best interests in mind. I guarantee you, you start digging into these people's psyches and they do not have compassion for us, but rather condescending derision.
Here's another quote from the article, they thought they were being so "virtuous." What is sickening about this article is its virtue signalling. "Look how awesome we are."
"They fended off voter-suppression lawsuits, recruited armies of poll workers and got millions of people to vote by mail for the first time. They successfully pressured social media companies to take a harder line against disinformation and used data-driven strategies to fight viral smears."

I get sick every time I read that article.

"We had to destroy democracy in order to save democracy"

In other words, "the fix was in."
Thank you Jennifer. What a deep dive into such very murky & troubling waters.
I read this article every month or so, and every time I catch something new that's come to light since the last time I read it.
