Remember the reports of the lab at Boston Univ. that proudly announced modifying C19 adding a chimeric spike to the less lethal Omicron to make it more lethal?
Note that lost in the various rebuttals (Reuters as usual) is the fact that the unmodified Omicron strain that was then prevalent was 0% lethal in mice, the GoF one produced was 80%, but no worry! that is 20% less than the 100% lethality in the ancestral variant that was originally killing people in Europe. By that twisted logic, "Gain of Function" was not achieved. It was "loss of function" Please correct any inaccuracies in my interpretation, I'm not a vaccine GoF researcher.
Bottom line, if this research is still happening in the U.S.; imagine what might be brewing in China.
