Biogen has a new drug out to treat postpartum depression…..and the 14 day treatment price tag will blow your mind.

SO a little history on this drug. Zurzuvae was originally presented to the FDA for approval as a 14 day treatment for depression and postpartum depression. They claimed that depression would be “gone” after this 14 day treatment. In August 2023, the FDA decided to not grant approval for major depressive disorder, and only approved it for postpartum depression. This was a major whack to Biogen, as the market share for depression is much larger than for postpartum.
Today, it was announced that Biogen is proceeding forward with releasing Zurzuvae for postpartum depression only. The price tag on those 14 pills? $15,900. HOLY SHIT.
When Biogen announced this drug, they anticipated a price tag of less than $10,000. With the refusal to approve for major depressive disorder, and the loss of that huge market share, I am guessing the price was cranked up in an attempt to meet their sales revenue goals.
This is the clown world we live in. If this drug really did fix postpartum in 14 days, odds are we won’t even know, because insurance will never pay for this. The number of hoops one has to jump through, previous drug failures, only to be denied coverage due to that price tag. Which just delays care to someone who truly needs it during the postpartum period.

I looked up the side effects and one was suicidal thoughts or actions. That is a lot of money to end up with the opposite effect. It affects GABA and is ‘thought’ to work by rebalancing the brain functions like mood, arousal, behavior and cognition. Not only is this a no, but a HELL no. They don’t even know what functions they are really messing with. How many doctors are going to get kickbacks to prescribe this.
There is NO WAY it “helps” women. All that we have learned from Big Pharma in the past few years- especially listening to the heroic Dr Breggin- all anti depressants injure the brain in some way. They want all of us brain dead, catatonic and weak so the masses won’t FIGHT BACK against these MONSTERS!!!!
