Up until a few weeks ago I could hear the sound of roosters crowing in my neighborhood. Suddenly it was quiet. I asked one of my neighbors that kept chickens what was up. It turns out the local Health Department had issued an order for them to destroy all their birds. Chickens, quail, and turkeys. Wiped out. Not a single case of Bird Flu in the area, but now there are no fresh eggs. All of the folks that had them are scrambling to find chicks or fertilized eggs to hatch so they can keep fowl again. Heck, now I want to keep chickens!
