Are we over-vaccinating our pets? This Veterinarian would say yes. And they are as risky as human vaccines

This is an important topic that needs to be addressed. We discuss the safety of our human vaccinations, but just how safe are animal vaccines?
I took a totally non-scientific survey of people I know who have dogs, and asked about their vaccination status. The results may surprise you! Every single one of them (N=9 people) who on average own 2 dogs replied with “nope, mine have had no shots since they were puppies”. The ranges in time since last vaccine was 2 years to 5 years, with one anomalous one being 7 years since last vaccines. One reported that his dog developed a lump after a rabies vaccine and stopped vaccinating after that. The most common reason someone had recently vaccinated a dog? They needed to board a dog at a kennel due to travel, and that necessitated the dog(s) being vaccinated before boarding.
What is interesting is that most people decided to not vaccinate a pet well before the “anti-vaxxer” slurs were flung during the covid era. And prior to waking up to the reality of the dangers of childhood vaccines. These are long standing beliefs that their pets did not need the vaccines.
This is an interesting article and video. Worth the read/watch.
Dog and cat vaccination mirrors precisely child vaccination – an alluring promise of safety, “supported by science”, variously mandated, income stream for the practitioner, covertly causing chronic illness and cancer, victim having no voice in the matter, another clown world triumph. I decided to stop vaccinating my dog back in 2019. My vet was pushing annual vaccines for shots that were supposed to last 3 years saying it doesn’t hurt to still give them annually. My dog is under 7 lbs and I knew he was already getting a dose they’d give an 80+ lb dog so giving him 3 shots annually didn’t sit well. I also couldn’t help but think how much more revenue he would be getting charging $15 for each shot annually instead of every three years. A friend took her dog to a different vet in town and they refused to see her dog that needed emergency care unless she agreed to vaccinate. Seems to be the trend lately, if you don’t agree to the vaccines/medications you don’t get medical care. My dog is 15.5 now and hasn’t had any shots in 5.5 years. Fortunately my vet hasn’t pushed me and knows my position. However, when you make this choice you can’t board them at most facilities and need to find other options. There is always a carrot and more often a stick when making choices to opt out.
