In a similar way that the pilot’s heart test results have been changed for acceptable levels, perhaps the mammogram accepted results have been changed over time too to create more clients?

First, the FAA is adamant about pilots not getting experimental shots.

Sorry, that was the old FAA before the "safe and effective" came out.

The number of pilots having issues in the cockpit is "nothing to see here".

Reminder: most airlines only have two pilots in the cockpit.

As a non-current pilot, I am appalled at this lowering of professional standards.

Just who is/are the FAA (and the rest of our government) batting for?

Thank you for this comment, Joe, from your perspective as a pilot.

As a former member of the flying public, the FAA's violation of its own rules re the use of new or experimental junk appalled me. It remained utterly silent in the face of "the Biden's" edict to inject these most precious of "assets" -- pilots. The FAA had every right and reason to refuse, but what did these testicle-free losers do?

They simply obeyed.

The silence of the Pilots' Union appalled me, too. Is their only duty to collect dues or do they have a duty to protect, as well?

What a joke they are -- these our fellow "Americans."

I worked for UA (not in air) for 18years. While an employee i utilized my flying benefits to an enviable level. Haven't gotten on a plane in 15(?) years. Simply, policy kept devolving in ALL areas of this commercial business.

Many injuries. Many deaths.

Sad and outraged.

Against my better judgement, I endured this atrocity. I'd been having some breast pain. Hubs got worried. Said maybe I should have it checked out. Sigh...

So. Scheduled and went for this atrocity. First one. This is probably 20-25 years ago? As I endured this ridiculous procedure -- annoyed with myself for having given in -- I swore then and there that I would never, EVER do it again.

EVER.

And I have kept my word to myself -- and highly glad of it. Sometimes the blatant absurdity of something is blatantly clear. Mammograms are a prime example of this.

More training in self examination and gifting that laminated, in-the-shower pictograph hanging card would be SO MUCH MORE helpful to young women.

By whom, in what setting...

I suppose if the schools distribute condoms and encourage masterbation why not add breast self exam.

🙏

/sarc. I am NOT in favor of "the state" raising children, or govt healthcare, or society's removal of religion and morality from schools. Parents have less involvement in curricula, school admin and this is a huge ancillary subject if mammography is to be used less frequently.

Where is the concern and discussion?? 😞

Thanks Dr Brown for exposing this study.

I also think the ove prescribed HRT isn't helping. Yes, menopause isn't fun but is it worth the risk?

Thankfully, I had a wholly uneventful menopause. I noticed it starting to stop...and then? It stopped. The same way it started -- without any help from me.

No idea what's in HRT now, but back in the day when I learned that Premarin derived some (all?) of its hormones from the urine of pregnant horses????????????????????

Honest to God!

I mean...seriously? I'm supposed to believe that God intended that I or any woman would need a hormone from pregnant horses' piss to get through menopause??? And the white coats would willingly prescribe this??????

Hard to know what to say.

Planet Earth. What a cluster.

Funny (not) that I was in an early HRT/Premarin study at UVA. I was asked during qualification if any member of my mothers side of the family had had breast cancer or any other type. I answered no because it was accurate. No one ever asked about my dad's side.

I finished the study and they were a little concernemd by the mammogram results and told me to come back in 6 months for a recheck. I was about 8 months getting back and was diagnosed with stage 3. Went from 0 to three in less than a year. My study was unlinked and I was on pure estrogen. During treatments and surgeries the next 1.5 years... it seems they found the DNA links and that your genetic proclivity can come from BOTH parents. Oops. Too late for me but hopefully that has helped others. 😕

Premarin is not the only hormone treatment. "Bio-identical" hormones are made from plants. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/treatments/15660-bioidentical-hormones

Yes, aware that there are many, but "back in the day," Premarin was one of the first. I confess I don't understand replacing hormones that naturally ebb, but as I said, my menopause ended as it began. I had no symptoms of anything except for no more periods.
