Millions of people were watching the game live, and those who were not have seen the replay. Damar Hamlin made what I would call a traditional tackle, got up, and a few seconds later, collapsed backwards onto the field. As we all know, they performed CPR for 9 minutes, deployed the AED to defibrillate his heart, and he was taken away in the ambulance. I would dare to say that very few people have ever witnessed something as scary as this during a televised sporting event. As of this writing on Tuesday evening, he was listed in critical condition at the University Hospital in Cincinnati.
What in the heck happened? He is 24 years old, peak health and physical condition. Let me be very clear here: NONE of us outside of the medical team treating him know what happened. But the narrative they are putting out is certainly one with some damage control behind it.
A few things I noticed right off the bat: within an hour of the incident happening, Twitter doctors and ESPN immediately began saying “this was commodio cordis”. Here is the problem I have with that diagnosis within an hour of his cardiac arrest: he doesn’t fit the profile. Did he take a hit on the tackle? Yes. Was it an abnormal hit unlike any others we see in the NFL? No. Have we seen crazy hits where players have been steamrolled to the ground in a much worse fashion? Oh my gosh yes. I have watched the replay 20+ times and I am no sports medicine doctor or cardiologist by any means, but there was nothing that jumped out there that said commotio cordis was the issue here. Not in someone who (assuming) has a normal cardiac status. Wearing protective gear (pads). And the hit looked to go towards his midline to right, not over his upper left where his heart is at. It should also be noted that as rare as commotio is, it is much more common in adolescents who do not have muscle mass in their chest yet, it is more common after a projectile hit such as a baseball or a hockey puck, or a direct kick during martial arts. NOT saying it wasn’t CC……but that is not the first line answer you look at here assuming normal heart health. Sudden cardiac arrest can come from spontaneous VTACH rhythm, blood clot, aneurysm rupture, etc. The differential diagnosis list here is big. Why did ESPN and twitter docs instantly jump to commodio cordis within an hour of his sudden cardiac arrest?
Next thing I noticed was that any mention of “other things” was quickly shot down by those on Twitter. If you did not fall in line with the commotio diagnosis, you were called insensitive, disrespectful, and a liar. Isn’t it just as disrespectful to assume it is commodio without knowing that is what it was??? Armchair physicians out there making an assumptions that this was commotio just as others were suggesting it was other things, such as the vaccine, but the commotio assumption was allowed, the rest of the hypotheticals were met with “stop it, don’t assume, etc”. Ahhhh social media. Reminds me of the days where if you said anything against the vaccine you were called a liar and a misinformation. They are using the same playbook here again.
Tuesday evening, Demar’s uncle gave a public statement for the family that Demar “had to be revived 2 times”. This adds way more speculation that this was not commotio cordis. Once he was shocked back into rhythm, if it was a true fluke hard hit at the right portion of the cardiac cycle, he would have sustained a normal rhythm from that shock and not coded again. I would dare to even guess he would no longer be intubated at this point. He would have likely not required intubation and very likely would have woken up once his heart rhythm resumed. The fact he is still listed in critical condition and intubated on 50% oxygen (per his family/agent) does not typically equate into a commotio cordis event. The fact he coded twice makes the commotio theory so “highly suspect” and stinks of a narrative to cover something else up. Just my hypothesis and opinion. https://rumble.com/v23steo-damar-hamlins-uncle-gives-an-update-says-they-had-to-resuscitate-him-twice.html
Peter McCullough came out with a pretty impactful statement during and after this event.
Dr. McCullough said what many people are thinking. There needs to be a differential diagnosis list to determine what happened here. Including the elephant in the room that no one wants to discuss: was Mr. Hamlin covid vaccinated? Did he have asymptomatic cardiac issues due to his vaccine? We have discussed previously what causes Sudden Death (which is what happened to Hamlin on Monday night, sudden death that required 9 minutes of CPR to revive him). It tends to happen in the vaccinated when catecholamines are released during sleep when preparing the body to wake up in the morning, and it happens when people are exercising and exerting their heart. This is exactly the angle that Dr. McCullough is suggesting needs to be, at the very least, considered here.
Here is the problem though. And the entire reason I decided to write this post. In the list of horrible things that may have gone wrong for Demar Hamlin, if the final conclusion is that he had subclinical myocarditis due to a covid vaccine that led to sudden cardiac death, WE WILL NEVER EVER KNOW. Why? Because the NFL and the powers that be are not going to ever admit that piece of information. The NFL has roughly 94% vaccination rate. It was mandated for players. The Buffalo Bills team is 100% vaccinated (per NFL.com) and the Bills required vaccines for all spectators to watch their games in person in their stadium. It is New York after all. Sadly, the truth will not come out if it is indeed a vaccine injury. Can you imagine the optics THAT would have for the NFL? The ensuing refusals to play because “hey if this 24 year old went into sudden cardiac arrest what about me at age 37?” Players would decide to not risk dying on the field. The players union would go into a full blown 5 alarm fire trying to calm the fears of the vaccinated players. The panic level would be through the roof. Lawsuits would follow against teams who required their players to vaccinate, as well as against the NFL itself. The additional testing of EVERY SINGLE PLAYER to check their cardiac status (via cardiac MRI) could/would reveal that there are more with injuries out there. Playing careers would end. The greatest coverup in history would happen if Demar Hamlin was indeed vaccine injured and that is why he went into cardiac arrest. Just to protect the billion dollar NFL regime.
I wonder what players from various teams are thinking today after watching that horrific incident on the field on Monday night. I would imagine the phone lines are in a frenzy discussing the what’s/why’s/what do we do now. What are coaches thinking? What are players agents thinking? Team owners? Somewhere deep in the recesses of the brain where none of them want to go, there has to be a flicker of “was it the vaccine that did this?” Rumor on Twitter is that all NFL teams have been instructed to make “no public comments” for the next 3-5 days.
This website already acknowledges that more than 700 athletes have collapsed in the last year due to cardiac issues. We cannot ignore the vaccine status of ANY athlete who suddenly experiences cardiac issues. https://bigleaguepolitics.com/report-at-least-769-recently-vaxxed-athletes-collapsed-last-year-during-competition/
Prayers go out to Demar Hamlin and his family. I pray that his story doesn’t end here. I pray that he survives this incident and is able to live a normal life moving forward, albeit probably not as a football player. What should be next for the NFL? Every single vaccinated player/coach/staff member/referee needs a cardiac MRI. STAT. No questions asked. To determine any undetected heart damage from the covid vaccine.
We have already seen issues with JJ Watts, who announced his retirement after cardiac issues this season. https://www.nfl.com/news/cardinals-de-j-j-watt-explains-decision-to-retire-at-end-of-2022-i-ve-known-for-
Another NFL player who suffered a stroke. https://thespun.com/nfl/nfc-south/carolina-panthers/nfl-player-was-hospitalized-due-to-a-minor-stroke
A retired Panthers player who died “suddenly” at age 38 last weekend https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/01/former-nfl-player-uche-nwaneri-called-imprison-unvaccinated-dies-suddenly-38/.
League play should stop, tally the leaderboard as though last Sunday was the final game of the regular season. Give these teams the next 12 days to MRI each of their players. Ensure they are safe to practice and go on the field in the playoffs. The players are owed that much. Damar Hamlin deserves that. Because IF his cardiac arrest was vaccine induced, what happened to him cannot be for nothing. Let it be a change agent to protect the rest of the players that have no idea what is going on silently beneath the surface. To those out there who shame and throw a fit that people suggest the vaccine may be the cause of the most tragic Monday Night Football game we have ever witnessed: we are long past the time of sitting down and being quiet. Lives are at stake here. Demand answers. Demand transparency. Do it for Demar.
All of that may well end up happening anyway. Wait until it happens again...because it will.
Thank you Jennifer. I agree -100%. Stop all play. Cardiac MRI's for all players. "The greatest coverup in history would happen if Demar Hamlin was indeed vaccine injured and that is why he went into cardiac arrest. Just to protect the billion dollar NFL regime." - exactly - . Peace.
