Things are not getting better for the Des Moines school district…..the DHS report is out now. What can WE do to stop this from happening?

Have a read on the laundry list of charges this man had for DECADES prior to being hand picked to lead the DMPS.
Now ask yourself the question: who are our teachers? Our principals? Our superintendents? Our school board members? Do they pledge an oath to your kids, or to the ideology of the teachers union? Why do school boards always throw their backing for school board members that upon research, have questionable ideology?
What happened in Des Moines should be the wake up call that every parent of every child needs. I have been very active in school board elections locally, and frankly we need help. Less than 10% of voters turn out for these elections. The 10% that do are primarily school employees with a hand picked person they want on the board. How do people like Ian Roberts end up the Superintendent? The school board. If the school district endorses a candidate, you can bet that teacher union money funded their campaign and if you search ol Randi Weingarten, you will quickly see why you don’t want THAT making your kids education decisions. Education was captured 30+ years ago. It is our job to right the ship.
We have said for years it starts local. That isn’t a lie or a myth. It is time all of us get involved in vetting and researching EVERY single local official from the school board to the city council to the county board/legislature. And people HAVE to get out and vote!!
We just had a recall election in Jackson County for the county legislator. In a county with more than a million people, a paltry 90k people voted. They opened up early voting on August 19th for the September 30th election. They had locations set up for early voting, mail in voting, (which I am not a fan of) but darn it, there were 6 weeks of voting opportunities! And the numbers were still horrible. Our local school board is no different. We have 100k people that live in this district, and we are lucky to get 10k out to vote. Usually it is 7-8k.
I know many are jaded by election outcomes. Machine voter fraud. Missing ballots. Frauded mail in ballots. But to just give up and NOT do your part is ensuring this rot continues. It all starts local. Remember, each state is its own entity. We are the United STATES of America. If we want meaningful change, it has to start at home. And a lot of us have to get up off our butts and go make the effort.

I worked that election. My polling place was like a ghost town. Our numbers did not bring up the percentage. Who showed up to vote? I’m the guy that checked people in and got to look at all the IDs. I check birthdates. I counted 4 people that were under the age of 50. The rest were seniors who had been personally affected by the policies of the individual being recalled. Sort of related to the column; all of my fellow poll workers were school district employees who had been given the day off to work the poll. They were more than a little hostile when they found out I’m a retired Fed. Gee, I wonder why?
Our school principal got jailed for sharing child porn on the internet. This type of thing has happened before in the district. Homeschool your kids whenever possible.
