On Thursday, January 4th, the health director of St. Louis stated that a mask mandate was back in place immediately due to rising cases of flu/covid/RSV. There is just one small problem: she spoke to NOONE before making this unilateral decision. No discussion with the city council, mayor, epidemiology staff at hospitals……she just decided what the heck, I want a mandate so I am going to issue one.
This led to a HUGE response by citizens proclaiming she had no power to do this, (she didn’t), and the above article is the rescinding of the 12 hour mask mandate. She tried to do some damage control by saying that the mask mandate was “strongly recommended use of masks but not mandatory use of masks” but that wasn’t enough. Even the hospitals said that flu cases are lower than last year and no mandates are needed.
This is how you defeat any tyrant who thinks they are going to mandate you to do anything. Fight back. There are far more of us than them.
Comical... another medical "expert" trying to get the covid grift going again.
"St. Louis Director of Health Matifadza Hlatshwayo Davis (Zimbabwean-American physician) originally said on Thursday that "significant increases" in COVID-19, RSV and flu cases in the city were the reason behind the mask order. However, on Friday morning, the department replaced its original statistics with less alarming data showing respiratory viruses trending up."
Sounds like the city council hasn’t made it explicitly clear that the department of health doesn’t have the authority to issue mandates of any kind. Maybe they should clear that up.
