There has to be more to the story. I am sorry the person died but was this person immune compromised in some way? Would, under ordinary circumstances, a person be able to fight off this pathogen and not even get too sick? I agree, it is sad the person died. To say this is rare is an understatement. According to the article there have been 4 cases in 10 years. Hardly rampant. I searched for cases elsewhere in the US and came up empty handed. I could be wrong about that.
