Incidence of alopecia areata (balding) after covid vaccines

This is yet another side effect that I have seen in both kids and adults who have been vaccinated for covid. I even know of a case where a healthcare worker had a severe case of alopecia just from being around shedding spike proteins at work.

“Twenty-seven (52.9%) patients developed new-onset AA following receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, and AA recurrence or exacerbation occurred after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine in 24 (47.1%) patients with preexisting disease.”

In the cases I have seen, the one who had spike protein shedding that led to hair loss, hair has now regrown back to normal. In others who had the vaccine, the alopecia has been permanent thus far despite treatment by dermatology.

There are also numerous anecdotal reports of people experiencing hair thinning post vaccine and post covid illness. Some of those post covid illness were vaccinated and some were not. Those without the vaccine have had hair regrowth.
