Holy moly why did a pediatric hospital get over $114 MILLION DOLLARS??? What did they do with that money??? (Maybe we should ask the CEO who has abruptly stepped down).
Signature is an inpatient and outpatient psychiatric facility. *for the record no, I received ZERO covid “money”. Because I did not stop working due to covid. We stayed open the entire time. Saw patients as normal, via telehealth and in person depending on their level of comfort.
The physicians group for a local hosptial received over $13 million?!?! WHY?! I thought the whole point of “lock down” was to prevent the “overflow wave of patients” so healthcare would not be “overburdened”. (I cannot roll my eyes any harder right now).
Oh well thank GOODNESS the one St. Lukes hospital in KCMO proper got their $41 million dollars. We know they didn’t need to pay physicians with that since their $13 million above should have taken care of THAT!
It would be easy to miss this one, because Truman is now University Health. Notice their $64 MILLION pay out, and the University Health physician group got another $3.6 million.
This is also my real bone of contention is the community mental health agencies in this city. Tri-county received $350k +. Because they ALL CLOSED DOWN. They refused to let patients in the door for years after covid “started”. To this day I am pretty sure they operate on a telehealth basis whenever possible with in person visits when required.
That is a hefty chunk of change that THESE two community mental health agencies got. They sat at home. Glad patient care was a real priority while collecting your government money.
It should be noted here that one of the biggest hospital conglomerates is operated by HCA. They have the biggest hospitals in Wichita, KS and in Overland Park, KS and over on the Missouri side as well. I am unable to find their take from the government dole. They have their $$ well hidden under some corporate name in another state.
Why is it that everything in Government is Opposite World? The Feds pay farmers not to grow food. (Farm Subsidies) They used to pay airlines to ignore market demand, fly routes chosen by politicians, and fly nearly empty airplanes. (Pre-Deregulation) Now they are paying hospitals and doctors to not treat patients. How very helpful! I'm certain there are other examples. We have been very bad if we have gotten the government we deserve.
Man oh Manischewitz this "follow the money" thing is a revelation. Root of all evil? Almost certainly!
The Tennessee citizens discovering their school boards' Fed disincentive money to torture students with masks, school closures and distance learning was a revelation.

What a great gig it must be for the med co administrations to "find" such easy funding!!
Bet 60Minutes won't spend 60 seconds on this one.
And the proceeds of this bounty? Don't expect the IRS or any other govt branch to go after whatever nefarious use and tax consequences of this "earned" free money.
And Congress? The power of the pus! A very bad joke!!
