Every single human should be doing all they can to put a stop to this. Flood your hospitals, legislators, EVERYONE you can with letters demanding that this idea be stopped.
Ironically, a company with the name Hippocratic in their title wants to deploy AI nurses to do the work of patient education/preparing for a procedure/etc. They are touting this as cost effective and cheaper than having humans do this job.
And this is where it starts. AI has no business in direct patient care. Period. Do you want a robot taking care of you? I do not!! There has been a slew of AI charting apps that have come to market over the last year. I have mentioned them previously in a caution against AI post. What these new AI apps do is listen to your conversation with a patient, and formulates a note for you, so you don’t have to chart documentation for a patient. What is this also doing? Taking your patients private information into a database. It is also teaching a robot how to do your job.
How does this fall into HIPAA? I have a video camera in my office for safety, but zero audio recording on it. It is purely a visual security camera. If I am recording a patient so an app can make their visit note, are people asking for consent to do so? If not, how is that HIPAA compliant??
Hmmmm. Most AI is accurate about half the time. This seems less than optimal for medical purposes. Is this to increase business for malpractice attorneys? The COVID vaccine episode has taught us that human carnage is irrelevant. If the AI doctors are networked, then the concept of the second opinion goes out the window. I predict some serious backlash against AI doctors. And of course, those who program and install bias into the AI want us dead.
I couldn't agree more. We are continually dumbing down people by increasing the use of machines. Soon there won't be a human alive that will be able to unscrew a light bulb because a machine will have done it. What makes us who we are is the ability to think and act and respond to our environment. We are slowly loosing all of our skills and our ability to do critical thinking. Is this really what people want? Do you just want to exist without having to even think? Is that really living or just existing? This shit needs to be shut down quick, fast and in a hurry before it is too late. This is an insidious plan to replace people altogether. We will become the slaves of machines. Talk about a dystopian society!!! Not for me and not for anyone I would hope.
